GENERAL INFORMATION

  • WHO

    Years 2, 3 & 4 Cricket is suitable for boys & girls in School Years 2, 3 & 4.

The Club Policy is that all players should play in their correct grade. However it does allow children to play up (or down) a grade depending on friends and abilities, but once a child is in School Year 4 (as at the start of a cricket season) they MUST play in the corresponding Year 4 cricket grade. This will mean that some children may have to repeat Year 4 if they were playing up a grade the season before.

All of these teams are selected to provide a mix of abilities and schools as much as possible. Our grade coordinators do their utmost to accommodate team mate requests within these guidelines, usually with highly successful outcomes. However, we can offer no guarantees and appreciate your understanding that not all requests can be met.

  • WHAT

Teams (8-a-side) play in the Eastern Districts Cricket Association (EDCA), which involves two other local Clubs-Grafton United CC and Auckland University CC. Games will be played either on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings-depending on the opposition.  These limited-over games start at 5.00 pm on Fridays and 8.30 am on Saturdays, and are approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in duration. Rules are formatted so that all children get the opportunity to participate equally throughout the game. All three grades play with a Junior size Incrediball (soft ball).

  • WEAR:

All players should wear the Parnell Cricket Club polo shirt plus white shorts which can be bought online from the Club's sponsor, Players Sports, or by visiting their retail shop at 7/273 Nielson Street, Onehunga. Ph 522 8170.

A sunhat is essential and PCC caps and hats are also available at Players Sports. Suitable footwear should be worn.

All cricket equipment is provided in a team gear bag so there is no need to invest in cricket gear until you are sure of your child's commitment.
